In the police’s second-largest cocaine bust ever, 618 kilograms of cocaine worth about HK$600 million were found hidden in barrels of frozen juice
Officers arrested a 28-year-old man after finding bricks of cocaine in two shipping containers that arrived from Sao Paulo, Brazil last Friday
There were 256 barrels of frozen juice in the containers. Officers discovered that 508 bricks of cocaine were hidden inside seven barrels
The force found the shipment suspicious as it did not require cold storage when arriving in Hong Kong, also the cost for transporting the juice in frozen shipment is a mismatch for the merchandise’s value, plus usually juice is transported with plastic barrels instead of metal barrels
